Present Moment Meditation...

What is it?
Much of your thoughts keep you out of the present moment. For example, when someone says you did it wrong or you’ll never succeed; you spend a lot of time thinking about the past.  Or your boss tells you that next week they are going to let go of half the work force.  You spend the next week in the future with all your attention on am I or am I not going to get laid off?

How Does It Work?
The reality is that the only place you experience yourself is right NOW.  We have learned to put an enormous amount of ourselves in the past or future.  Thinking about what am I going to have for dinner?  Where am I going to buy it? Oh, I forgot to get gas this morning.  You go back and forth between the past and the future.  Much of the thought, on a very simple level, keeps you out of the present time moment.

Its time to experience this present time moment! Here is a simple tool that will allow you to stay in this moment and retrieve yourself back into the present and open to now. What I’d like you to do is to simply begin to call yourself back.  Do you remember what a red rose looks like in your mind? A rose in the garden, a rose in the store, a rose on the dining room table, just simply remember that.

Then, would you take that memory and would you bring it into this moment. And, just out in front of your forehead in your imagination would you simply see that red rose now in this present time?  Then would you simply look into your day and ask yourself, where did I leave myself? You may have been at a stop sign, you may have been at a grocery store, or in a conversation at work.  Just look back and see what happened in your day and there you are. Now would you give this command to the rose to "collect you up".  A very simple tool and yet very effective.  Begin to collect up everywhere you are scattered and bring yourself back into this moment.

Next, would you look into your future, your tonight, your tomorrow, your next week? Where else have you left yourself out into the future?  The reality is that you cannot create in the future and you cannot reinvent the past in the past.  But you can recreate your past and create a new future right now in the present.

Please take another breath. Be right here, right now. Relax and would you explode that rose as if it were fireworks.  Simply explode it and watch it go into a million pieces of light.  Call all that energy back to you so that you have it available in present time.

This tool has another application that is also very valuable.  Would you create another a second rose?  Have you ever had other people’s attention on you with their demands, needs, wants, and directions? Basically their energy in your space that causes you to feel uncomfortable or hesitation to create on your own.

Would you find one person that has a better idea of how you should experience yourself?  Please refrain from judging them as bad.  And would you give the rose the command to collect that person up from your energy patterns. It is like a magnet that simple pulls their energy out of your space.  This is a very valuable and simple tool.  Take another breath.  Then would you explode that rose? Take a breath. Like yourself.

Intend for all their energy to go back to them in a neutral manner. It doesn’t go back with the emotions or the demands.  You are simply giving back to them what is theirs and taking back what is yours.  As in the middle of the Lord’s Prayer: forgive them their trespasses, as you forgive yours.

Take another breath. Then would you like yourself? Right here. Right now.   And would you simple breath your eyes open and be aware of yourself right where you are.
